Another Zimbabwean football player found a home in South Africa to share his expertise as a professional footballer in the DStv Premiership. With the likes of Khama Billiat being the most prolific Zimbabwean in the Premiership, the new addition to the PSL are believed to be a more dangerous goal poacher than Billiat. Former Black Rhinos striker Tawanda Macheke penned down a deal with Maritzburg United as the PSL club acquired his services to help the club turn their chances into goals and move away from the relegation zone.
Tawanda Macheke is natural striker and his talent had won him the golden boot and player of the season awards in 2021. Maritzburg United needs a deadly striker like Macheke and they did remarkably well by signing him to the team of choice, all that's needed now is for him to adjust to South African football, as its never easy to just go on the pitch and score goals like usual for a player who made a move across borders.
Tawanda Macheke endured a failed stint with the highly respected Dynamos in Zimbabwe before he finally found his striking form with the Zimbabwean Premier League's army team Black Rhinos, his goalscoring abilities with Rhinos took himself and the club to another level, with Macheke scoring the most goals in the league last season acquiring the golden boot. However, Macheke will not be the only new goal poacher at Maritzburg United as they also signed Friday Samu who is a topscorer in the Zambian Premier League where he came from as Maritzburg United signed him from Green Buffaloes.
Maritzburg United also announced the signings of Lucky Baloyi, Steven Pereira and Genino Palace to their squad ahead of the upcoming league matches for the 2022 part of the current season. Maritzburg United will be without a doubt a stronger competitive squad with their new additions when the league resumes in February.
