Chiefs in trouble as Sundowns reportedly joins the race in signing sought-after player?
Kaizer Chiefs football club has been linked with interest in Bongani Zungu for quite some time now although it cooled down as the club was recently mostly linked with PSL based youngsters to strengthen their squad for the 2022/23 season.
Chiefs needs to add quite a few players in aid to strengthen their squad for the new season as many of their current stars is running out of contract and reportedly set to leave the club in June.
The club will do a reshuffle seeing older players leave the club, and therefore they will have to add new additions who can possibly do a better job for the club than what they did in the now concluded season.
Bongani Zungu is believed to be a candidate for a marquee signing at the club and should the club go for him as reported, he would be free as his time with Amiens SC in France won't go beyond this season.
Chiefs is believed to be in the race for him, but according to the South African newspaper (online), Mamelodi Sundowns is believed to be reportedly interested in Bongani Zungu as well.
Bongani Zungu last played for Mamelodi Sundowns before he left to play football in Europe, and a return to the club wouldn't be a bad idea as he was a great player with Sundowns before he left.
Kaizer Chiefs on the other hand needs a player like Bongani Zungu more than Sundowns does, but with Mamelodi Sundowns and their financial status, it's likely for Sundowns to win a race in signing a sought-after player.
But Chiefs can still win the race if they can offer him a big salary like they did with Keagan Dolly when they signed him and with Chiefs game-time is more gaurenteed than with Sundowns.
