This exciting partnership announced between Multi Choice and The Walt Disney Company Africa seeks to make more sports available to African customers.
The two 24-hour channels ESPN & ESPN2, would be made available on the 29 July broadcasting every major US sport American leagues National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), National Hockey League (NHL) and Major League Baseball (MLB).
"In addition to being the home of American sports, ESPN is equally well-known for its dedication to great storytelling, something we as Africa’s most-loved storyteller can identify with," explained Calvo Mawela MultiChoice Group CEO.
It will not only end by bringing American sports, but also going to feature football matches from English Football League (EFL), ), Dutch Eredivisie, Scottish Premier Football League (SPFL and Major League Soccer (MLS), including local sports, West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations and featured boxing tournaments and games.
Fixture to look forward:
29 July: The Major League Baseball (MLB)’s fixtures between Colorado Rockies and Oakland Athletics regular season, take prominence on ESPN.
31 July: much anticipated NBA returns with a bang bio-bubble, where LeBron James’s LA Lakers clash with their city rivalry LA Clippers, while Brooklyn Nets take on Orlando Magic
1-3 August: exciting triple-header for the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.
