CAF Confederation Cup
Venue: Martyrs of February Stadium
Fulltime: Al Ahli Tripoli 0-2 Orlando Pirates
Date: 08 May 2022
After the loss to TS Galaxy, Ben Motshwari and Peprah were recalled to the Buccaneers starting lineup, while Terrence Dzvukamanja and Linda Mntambo were benched. After an error from the Al Ahli shot-stopper, Innocent Maela scored the opening goal for the Soweto giants after only eight minutes.
As the first half progressed, Al Ahli acquired more possession, but they were unable to worry Richard Ofori, and the visitors went on to increase their lead in the 29th minute. With a finish in the box, Bafana Bafana international Goodman Mosele got his name on the scoresheet as the visitors earned a critical second away goal.
In the latter moments of the first half, the Buccaneers had a few chances, but Ofori was virtually unchallenged as the Buccaneers went into halftime with a two-goal lead. The second half did not see much of action as Pirates largely defended their lead as Al Ahli Tripoli struggle to crack a well organised defence.
Here's how they lined up:
Pirates: Mosele, Motshwari, Mabaso, Ofori, Jele, Nyauza, Maela, Shandu, Hotto, Peprah, Lorch
Subs: Makhubela, Dlamini, Sam, Mpontshane, Hlatshwayo, Makaringe, Ndlovu, Dzvukamanja, Lepasa.
