Chiefs’ 16 years record got smashed by Sundowns: “Which team will stop the Brazilians?”

Mamelodi Sundowns continue with their fine form in the 2021/22 season. This seems like Sundowns have been able to master their ability to win matches as they cannot settle for anything else than victory. In doing so they’ve been breaking numerous records in the Premier Soccer League. As they want to set their records that will stand the test of time. At the moment, it seems like the Brazilians are tough to beat and they want to win the DStv Premiership title five times in a row. As they seem like they don’t have competition within the PSL, hence, they working on their CAF Champions League run.

When the Tshwane giants defeated Golden Arrows by 1-0, that led to smashing Kaizer Chiefs' long-standing record. Chiefs held the record for most unbeaten league games away from a home split over the two seasons, which equaled twenty-one matches. The Brazilians have equaled the record by winning against Arrows at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium and on top of that, they’ve cemented their number spot on the league log standings. The Phefeni Glamour Boys were able to achieve this record between January 2005 and December 2005. It took Masandawana just over a year to equal it and they have a golden opportunity to set a new South African record. Even though it took Downs 16 years to equal Amakhosi’s massive record but they’ve been on top of their game for almost a decade. Sundowns will look at setting more records in the PSL as they want to cement their name in the record books.

The Tshwane giants have a crucial away league game against the unpredictable Marumo Gallants on the 7th of November. All they need to do in this match is to avoid a defeat and then they will set a new record for many unbeaten away matches. In the previous season, Downs only managed to get one loss in 30 games and it was in the hands of Amakhosi. Surely, they’ve been working hard on walking away with numerous victories.
