Out of favour Chiefs player gets a chance to prove his critics wrong

Stuart Baxter will have to look deeper within his squad to find players that will do what he wants every time they get an opportunity to play. Baxter might have to utilize other plans since plan ‘A’ has failed at Naturena. At this time it’s ideal that he thinks out of the box and work with his technical team to come up with resolutions. Otherwise Kaizer Chiefs will find itself in the relegation position and that’s the last place that they would like to be at this point. The Englishman will miss his ideal striker Samir Nurkovic who recently got a surgery done on his weak knee.

Now, it seems like Baxter will look into the out of favour striker Lazarous Kambole to score goals and win him matches. It hasn’t been a great second stint for Baxter at Naturena as he’s looking for winning combinations within his starting line-up. What’s worse is that his strikers have been misfiring for the past couple of games. With Nurkovic set to miss a lot of games, this has open another spot in the strikers’ department. Baxter might have to shift his plans and focus on Kambole, even though he has scored only one goal ever since arriving at Naturena. The absence of Nurkovic might open chances for other players to shine.

The Zambian international was seen on the Chiefs bench against Marumo Gallants this past weekend. As Chiefs played to a 0-0 draw against Gallants in their DStv Premiership clash. Kambole was able to make his first appearance for Chiefs as a substitute against Gallants, as he came in for Nkosingiphile Ngcobo. This is a lifeline for Kambole as he was listed in the transfer market by Amakhosi during the July-August transfer window. With Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro getting long term injuries and left Chiefs slim upfront. Kambole will have to battle it out on the pitch and raise his hand up for regular game time. Who knows maybe he might change Chiefs’ mind about letting him stay at Naturena, as his deal will end on the 30th of June 2022.
