It has been confirmed that Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs will play against each other on a nailbiting encounter. This should give people a glipse of what DStv Premiership is bringing to the table. No-one was expecting the new 2020/21 fixtures to have so much excitement already from the first game. The rivalty continues between Downs and Amakhosi and there has been unfinished business from last season.
After Masandawana ranaway with the Premier Soccer League title on the final day of the 2019/20 season, Chiefs would like to revenge their heartache on the new season. The 10-time Premiership League winners will open their new season against Gavin Hunt's new side. As he was brought in to safe Amakhosi from any more humilation by bringing back the glory days. It's been five years already without any silverware for Chiefs. This means from the first until the last match Amakhosi need to deliver as they're underpressure.
Sundowns has also lost the most decorated head coach in the South Africa, Pitso Mosimane to Al Ahly. Now they've looked at the new era of having joint coaches namely Rhulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi to lead Sundowns to greater heights. As former Mosimane's assistants, they're left with the big job of trying to prove their worth within the team. With 13 new players, Downs will look deadlier than ever on paper and even on the pitch. The club has invested on many PSL players in hope that they will carry on with their form in Sundowns colours. Meanwhile Chiefs on the other hand cannot sign any new players due to the two-window transfer ban by FIFA. They're still waiting for the verdict on their appeal from the CAS
