Pirates Set To Cash In On Striker?

Orlando Pirates football club is the only South African football club that has three matches left to play in the league, as they were rather busy with their continental campaign in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Pirates reached the final of the Confederation Cup which they lost against RS Berkane after a heated penalty shootout as both clubs failed to score in the match that ended 0-0 which led to penalties.

Pirates performances is all thanks to their in form squad despite falling short of winning a trophy. With three matches left to play in the league currently in the 7th place spot.

Pirates three outstanding matches will be their key to qualifying for the CAF Champions League or CAF Confederations Cup for next season. Should they win all three they will qualify for the champions league and should they fall points short, they can still qualify for confederations football.

Orlando Pirates in form players can manage to qualify for the champions league as they did good in their last few matches played. Pirates players impressed this season to date, but their striker Gabadinho Mhango was a noticeable outcast and his future with the club doesn't look bright.

Mhango's contract with the club was set to end in June with an option to extend, and the club luckily exercised the option to keep him beyond the current season. But the club has now given the striker their blessings to depart and find a new club should the technical team doesn't see him part of their plans for next season.

Gabadinho Mhango's agent confirmed that Irvin Khoza gave his blessings for Mhango to leave should the need come. "I've met with the chairman (Khoza) and a lot will depend on whether the technical staff see Gaba as part of the plans for the new season. If not, and we should know very soon, then the chairman has given me his blessing to look for another club for Gaba, as long as the deal is a fair deal for both Pirates and the player, then I think we can probably do something," his agent Mike Makaab said.

According to the agent, Gabadinho Mhango is happy to be playing for Pirates despite the fact that he was a benchwarmer for the biggest part of the season. "He is quite happy to stay at Orlando Pirates, if that's the call from the technical staff. But he is also happy to look at a new opportunity if he is not part of the technical staff's plans going forward."

Orlando Pirates exercised the option in his contract which means should the technical see Mhango as a liability and not part of their plans, an interested club will have to pay Pirates a fee for Mhango. Pirates could be set to cash in on Mhango as his stint with the club this season has indicated clearly they don't see him as an asset.
