Arthur Zwane: This is why I didn’t play Itumeleng Khune in the Kaizer Chiefs match against Royal AM

Former Kaizer Chiefs superstar and current Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has provided an explanation for why he chose not to start Amakhosi and Bafana-Bafana legend Itumeleng Khune in their 1-0 loss to Mamkhize's Royal AM.

The club elected to keep Itumeleng Khune on as the glamour boys' captain for the current campaign. Despite the fact that Bruce Bvuma started and Petersen was on the bench, Khune was not in the starting lineup and did not even make the bench against Shaun Mkhize's Royal AM.

Keagan Dolly led the Amakhosi against Royal AM in place of the veteran goalie. When asked why he didn't play Itumeleng Khune after the game, Zwane responded as follows:

"No, it was because of the selection; obviously, [I had to] choose the best available 11, and then we had to start Brandon and Bruce." So we're making that competition, and I think Bruce did pretty well. "I just think it was unfortunate that we conceded from that corner due to a lapse (in) concentration," Zwane said after the game.
