Kaizer Chiefs might have to seek elsewhere for a talented player that can be utilized in the midfield that can offer the side something unique during the attack and even defensively. In the July-August transfer window, Chiefs managed to sign only nine players and it seemed like that was enough at that time. However, in a few games in the 2021/22 season, there’s a space for few stars that strengthen Chiefs' attack and even defense. What has been a massive issue within Naturena is numerous injuries on their current squad. This has left Amakhosi with fewer options in certain positions.
After Chiefs was linked with the South African under-23 star Thabo Cele there was hope that he would bring a lot of flair and overseas experience to the Soweto giants. As one of the best players from Mzansi that have been penetrating overseas league, there was hope that he would move to Naturena after his deal ended in the Portugal side Cova da Piedade. However, the recent reports have stated that Chiefs might miss out on signing Cele after he was part of their transfer targets. As a free agent, he’s free to join any team of his choice. Unfortunately, for all the Chiefs' hopefuls it seems like he has chosen to remain abroad. As it is believed that he’s not ready to return to South Africa, as he feels that he has a massive chance of being overseas in other countries too.
Cele seems like he’s has found his next destination after being out of action since June 2021. He recently underwent a trial at Polish club Radomiak Radom last month, and everything went well, except the salary part which ended up messing up the negotiation. As it is believed that his agent was asking for a lot of money in terms of commission fee. Nevertheless, it seems like everyone has put their differences aside as they’re willing to start afresh and welcome the services of Cele in the current season. “Thabo Cele is very close to seeing his future resolved. The South African midfielder, ex-Cova da Piedade, is close to signing for Radomiak, from Poland, where Tiago Matos, former FC Porto player, plays,” said the Portuguese publication Record confirming that the Amakhosi target has found a new team.
