According to recent reports, Zimbabwean millionaire Strive Masiyiwa is close to completing the purchase of DSTV Premiership club SuperSport United. According to a report from a South African publication called iDiski Times, a deal for Masiyiwa to take control the Pretoria-based side is "nearly complete." The Pretoria-based side is now up for sale.

However, completion of the transaction is contingent on receiving authorization from the South African Premier Soccer League. Multi Choice Group is the corporation that owns SuperSport United. Initially, the pay-television firm sought to sell the team's status in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), but they have now chosen to sell the club outright to a buyer.

Insiders think that the sale of the club has more to do with cashflow than anything else, given that Multi Choice is currently the primary sponsor of the DSTV Premiership, the highest level of competition in South Africa.
