What lies ahead of Percy Tau Future ?

The Lion of Judah may get an opportunity to establish himself or look for a transfer out of Al Ahly next month as a result of Mosimane's departure.

The South African international, who previously played for Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, is in his first season with Al Ahly. He joined the Egyptian football powerhouses in August of last year, reuniting with Mosimane, a fellow countryman and former Sundowns head coach.

The attacking midfielder known as "Lion of Judah" had developed into one of South Africa's best players during the PSL era under Mosimane's direction. They had great success at Sundowns, where they won six significant trophies, including the Caf Champions League title.

The pair hoped to build on their success in Masandawana by taking home prizes in North Africa.

The 2021–22 saga so far

The Lion of Judah made his presence known in the nation of North Africa by scoring twice in his professional debut for Al Ahly in a 4-0 domestic league victory over Ismaily in October of last year. The left-footed player kept up his goal-scoring style, and at one time he had five goals, including a brace against Smouha in November of last year, to lead the domestic league scoring charts. A month later, he provided the Red Eagles with an essential late assist to secure the Caf Super Cup. Tau unfortunately missed the Club World Cup at the start of the year due to an injury he sustained during the Egyptian League Cup match against the National Bank of Egypt.

The Witbank-born athlete struggled to find his form after making a comeback, going five games without scoring, including two Champions League games against Sundowns, before scoring against Al Merrikh of Sudan. The Lion of Judah was in fine form for Al Ahly at the time in the Champions League, as he led the Red Eagles to a 6-2 aggregate victory over ES Setif of Algeria by scoring twice and dishing out four assists. However, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco defeated the defending champions Al Ahly 2-0 in the championship game. Tau has played 26 games in all competitions so far, scoring eight goals and dishing out five assists.

rumors of a transfer?

With Tau being one of the successful coach's key players at the club, Mosimane's resignation raised questions about Tau's future with Al Ahly. Tau had fallen out of favor at Brighton, where Mosimane had also lobbied for the 10-time African champions to sign him, and Jingles is the only manager who has been able to bring out the best in the 2017–18 PSL Footballer of the Season. The Lion of Judah joined the Red Eagles for an undisclosed sum, which is thought to be around R30 million, and signed a three-year contract with the option of a one-year extension. Despite Mosimane's departure, the Lion of Judah has not yet been linked with a move away from the Red Eagles.

The Bafana Bafana vice captain was connected with a move back to Belgium, where he produced some of his best football, before to signing with Al Ahly. Tau, who had successful loan periods at Union SG, Club Brugge, and Anderlecht, was reportedly interested in signing with Royal Antwerp, but he ultimately moved to Egypt. Tau played for Union during his stay in Belgium, where he received the Proximus League Player of the Season honor and later assisted Club Brugge in winning the Pro League championship. At the conclusion of the current Egyptian football season, it wouldn't be shocking if the 2017–18 PSL Golden Boot winner drew interest from teams in the Western European nation.

Ahly Al.

One major wish for 2022–2023

If Tau stays at Ahly, he may demonstrate that he can accomplish it without Mosimane's help. The former Witbank Spurs player will have the opportunity to demonstrate at Africa's top football club that he can flourish even without his excellent mentor and motivator.

One major worry for 2022–2023

Inconsistency. The left-footed player's performance for the Cairo giants has been hit and miss, and this could lose him a spot in the starting lineup for Al Ahly under their future permanent head coach. He must reclaim the consistency he formerly exhibited in the PSL and in Belgium.

The forecast from GOAL for 2022–2023

Tau is still a top-tier athlete who has achieved success in a foreign nation like Belgium, and he has hinted in passing that he might be Al Ahly's talisman. If The Lion of Judah puts his mind to it, he can have a productive season with Al Ahly and establish himself once again as one of the top players based in Africa, if not the best.
