Despite the fact that they are in the midst of a cruise control charge, Mamelodi Sundowns are resisting the urge to set their sights on a fifth consecutive crown just yet.
Having collected 30 points, Sundowns have now accumulated half of the points required to win the league on average.
Additionally, they have beaten each and every opponent in the league this season, with Sekhukhune United the most recent addition to a list that includes Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, and the rest of the PSL cast.
Sundowns have already accrued 30 points from their 12 games played, which equates to half of the total points required to win the league title in the country's top division.
It is possible that they will break the record of 71 points and finish as the first-ever 'invincibles' if they continue at their current pace.
According to Rulani Mokwena, the co-coach of the Sundowns, "the smartest guy is the one who learns from his own mistakes."
"This is a particularly lengthy and grueling season. The fact that we finished the season ahead of Kaizer Chiefs despite the fact that they were 14 points ahead with eight games to play, meant that Sundowns were crowned champions on the final day. You should never count your eggs before they hatch, and in football, you should take things one game at a time as well.
"When we get to 60 points, we believe the league is wrapped up, but we have a responsibility to our club, our management and our supporters to make sure that we play every game with the intent of winning it all, no matter how close the score is. That implies that your method is governed by principles, values, and the profile of the club, rather than by point accumulation.
"No consideration is given to points or how much we require. We are concentrating on attempting to ensure that we construct a very strong team, which means that team must advertise the basic values and beliefs of this club on a daily basis, regardless of the mathematical position "Mokwena is quoted as saying.
To this point, Sundowns have only conceded two goals (both in the same game) in their twelve games played.
