Kaizer Chiefs legend ‘takes over’ at struggling Swallows FC

Swallows FC have been 'invited' to help prepare for their Sunday match against Maritzburg United by a Kaizer Chiefs veteran.

Following the firing of Brandon Truter and his whole technical team on Sunday night, Fani Madida is now in charge at the Swallows training fields.

Madida isn't the interim coach or anything like that, according to Swallows chairman David Mogashoa; he was just asked to fill the vacancy.

In the event that the appointment of Truter's successor takes longer than planned, Mogashoa said Madida will lead Swallows against Maritzburg United and conduct interviews.

Madida works at Swallows as a technical advisor to the board of directors and the technical staff.

"However, if that does not happen, or if we have a work permit difficulty because the coach is from outside the nation," Mogashoa told Soccer Laduma, "Fani Madida will sit on the bench."

Magoshoa explained that they chose Madida in the interim since he is familiar with the Swallows' structures.

Following the sacking of Zeca Marques in 2019, Madida was invited to step in and try to guide the Swallows ship in the correct path.

"He's been around the structures, and we've asked him to help with the players' fitness while we wait for our new coach to be confirmed," Mogashoa added.

"However, he is not the coach...

We need someone to perform the interviews after the game, according to the PSL handbook, and if we don't have a coach ready by Saturday, Fani will do the interviews," Mogashoa stated.
