Steve Komphela is a South African football manager who used to be a football defender and a TV presenter. You may know him as the bald manager who used to coach both Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United. Presently, he manages the Mamelodi Sundowns, a football club based Chloorkop.

In his first season with Kaizer Chiefs, he managed to reach two Cup finals although he lost of them to Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Komphela was born in Golden Valley farm, which is about 20 kilometers away from Kroonstad. He is the youngest child of ten other siblings. After he completed his primary and secondary education, he went on to study to become a professional teacher and got a teacher's diploma from Free State Tshiya College.
As a footballer, his career started out at Klerksdorp City in the NSL second division. He then joined Qwa Qwa Stars and it was from here that he was promoted to the National Soccer League. In 1992, his team had an impressive season that saw them finish third. He later played for other teams including the Kaizer Chiefs and Gaziantepspor in Turkey, before he hanged his boots in 1997.
Due to the inability of his team to win any trophy, in July 2018, Komphela was forced to resign from Kaizer Chiefs before the end of his contract. The pressure to step down was as a result of the violent protests that Kaizer Chiefs fans launched in every match, as well as the negative comments that were trending online. He then moved to Bloemfontein Celtic.
Interestingly, after he joined Celtic for the 2018/19 PSL. Komphela won his first six games in charge. He even managed to draw with the Chiefs.
Who is Komphela married to? He is married to Mamoepi Komphela and together they have three children.
While he was still at Golden Arrows his salary was reported to be between R300 000 and R400 000. Currently it is unknown if at Mamelodi Sundowns as his paid the same salary of about R800 000, just the club's former coach Pitso Mosimane.
Komphela is a fan of fast cars. There have been reports that he is a owner a Harley Davidson and a Lamborghini Gallardo. He allegedly bought a Mercedes Benz 2018, SLC Class.
Komphela in his interview has come out reflecting on his time at Kaizer Chiefs, saying the job almost destroyed him but it made him stronger. He has the strength to keep fighting.
