Opinion: 2 Attacking Options Eguavoen Should Deploy in AFCON

As we get closer to the start of the postponed 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, one issue the temporary Super Eagles manager will have is deciding which players to deploy in the tournament.

There are a slew of strikers making waves in Europe right now. Goals have been scored by the players for their respective clubs. For example, Emmanuel Dennis is now among the top goal scorers in the English Premier League. In the current League season, he is also among the attackers with the most assists. Players like Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Moses, Chidera Ejuke, and a slew of others are all contributing to the success of their respective clubs.

Augustine Eguavoen and his coaching staff will undoubtedly face a battle in obtaining these in-form strikers at the upcoming tournament.

In this essay, I'll propose two attacking possibilities for Eguavoen to use in order to get the most out of the players when the competition finally begins in Cameroon.

Option A is being attacked.

Victor Moses is a well-known figure in the With Victor Osimhen as the main striker, Samuel Chukwueze plays from the left and right flanks. The goal of this choice is to make our frontline capable of disorganizing any opponents. Victor Moses and Samuel Chukwueze can both run with the ball at a high rate before breaking through the opposition's defense.

This approach will also relieve the pressure on Osimhen or any other striker who will play number nine.

Option B is being attacked.

If Emmanuel Dennis and Cyriel Dessers could play as main striker and supporting striker in a 4-3-1-2 configuration, the Super Eagles' frontline would be more effective. Dennis should be playing behind Dessers, in my opinion.

What are your thoughts on these two attack options? Please leave your ideas in the section below.
