Pirates on-form players that are expected to play today

Orlando Pirates interim co-coaches Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi have been trying different combinations within their squad. As they want to give all the deserving players a chance to showcase their talent at Mayfair. Also, they had to consider their long injury list which has caused the technical team to change their tactics and game plans. This occurs whenever there’s a new player within the starting line-up since the coaches want to make sure they utilise the player’s strengths to benefit the club.

Davids and Ncikazi will have to lead Pirates in their play-off round first-leg match against LPRC Oilers in the CAF Confederation Cup. With the squad that the Buccaneers has at the moment, there’s a bit of depth and that’s what they need to battle it out locally and continentally. Also, a few players such as Thembinkosi Lorch and Zakhele Lepasa are back at training following their recoveries from injuries. Let’s take a look at Pirates possible starting eleven that will be playing at Samuel Kanyin Doe Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia.

*The Goalkeeper:

The Sea Robbers have had a problem with their goalkeeping department, as they’re mostly injured. However, the veteran shot-stopper Siyabonga Mpontshane is expected to start for Pirates in goals. As he has been able to keep four clean sheets in the DStv Premiership, he would like the same form in the CAF Confederation Cup.

*The Defenders:

When it comes to the central defender then you can expect the likes of Abel Mabaso and Ntsikelelo Nyauza to partner up and stop Oilers from scoring goals. Looking at Bucs’ left-back it could be Innocent Maela and right-back might be Kwanda Mngonyama.

*The Midfielders:

The technical team is spoilt for choice in the middle of the park, however, when it comes to the central midfielders we can expect Ben Motshwari and Thabang Monare to take charge. Then the attacking midfielders can be Collins Makgaka and Linda Mntambo.

*The Strikers:

Pirates could depend on the likes of Deon Hotto and Kwame Peprah upfront for goals.
