Orlando Pirates have been playing a good brand of football but have lately dropped points due to their lack of a killer-instinct upfront.
Since trusted strikers Zakhele Lepasa, Tshegofatso Mabasa and Gabadinho Mhango got injured, the Buccaneers have been having a goals-scoring problem, with the likes of Thembinkosi Lorch and Deon Hotto tried in the strikers' role.
Before Pirates' CAF Confederation Cup play-off first-leg tie against Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana, the Soweto giants comfortably beat Cape Town City 2-0 in the DStv Premiership after scoring those two goals inside the first five minutes.
However, Zinnbauer's charges should have won by a bigger margin, with Lorch guilty of missing some clear chances inside the six-yard box.
It could be that Lorch is not yet used to playing as a striker and his confidence was down after horribly missing a penalty in a 2-0 loss against Golden Arrows in the preceding match before the one against the Citizens.
Going to the match against Galaxy in Botswana, with the CAF Confederation Cup group stage spot at stake, Zinnbauer had Terrence Dzvukamanja back from injury and he preferred the Zimbabwean to lead the attack instead of Lorch, whom he dropped to the bench.
Dzvukamanja was supported by Hotto upfront and Pirates broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute courtesy of a header by Thulani Hlatshwayo after a corner by the Namibian.
The Buccaneers left it late to seal the game, as Linda Mntambo and second-half substitute Jean-Marc Mundele, who got his first goal for Pirates netted two late goals to give the Soweto giants a comfortable 3-0 win away from home.
Pirates made some changes in the second-half but Lorch did not feature and could be that maybe he was rested.
However, with the match so crucial to Pirates, who have been taking continental competitions seriously in the past, the last time in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2015 going all the way to the final before losing out to Etoile du Sahel, is it reasonable to conclude that Lorch was rested or Zinnbauer is losing patience with him playing as a striker?
