SAFA provide update On bonuses for WAFCON champions | Here is more

According to Dr. Danny Jordaan, president of the South African Football Association (SAFA), Banyana-Banyana players each received R400,000 for winning the Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

After contradicting information regarding the amount of money our heroes would receive, there has been discussion over Banyana's bonuses.

Before the team left for WAFCON, SAFA guaranteed the players a R9.2 million incentive if they won the competition.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarded SAFA R8.4 million for the victory, despite some believing that the players should also receive compensation.

Thembi Kgatlana was present to accept the payment on behalf of the 23 players, but SAFA acknowledged on Friday that they had adhered to their original arrangement and had given each of them R400,000.

“In a press conference on Friday, SAFA Finance Manager Gift Sekone told the reporters, "I'm glad to inform that we have honoured the president's vow to award the players with bonuses of R400,000 each.

"We have prioritised this issue and treated it with urgency. This morning, we handled the payment. We'd like to hereby announce that all 23 players have been paid, and we couldn't be happier. They brought the cup to us, and we're delighted to report that we paid them.
