Pirates leading race to sign Chiefs striker target?
Orlando Pirates is set for a tough time ahead with just three matches in eight days. Pirates will be playing the CAF Confederations Cup final against RS Berkane, and two league matches against Maritzburg United and Royal AM.
Despite being scheduled to play three matches in eight days, the club is reportedly busy with strengthening their squad for next season. The July transfer window will soon be open after the end of the season, and the club has been linked to one of Kaizer Chiefs reported striker targets.
Orlando Pirates is believed to be leading the race for the signature of Chiefs reported target Chibuike Ohizu. According to reports, Sekhukhune United's Chibuike Ohizu is on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu FC in the PSL.
Kaizer Chiefs is in dire need of a striker as Samir Nurkovic has been reportedly linked with a move away from the club. AmaZulu FC is also in need for a striker as they failed this season to land a higher up position such as last season's second place spot which resulted in the sacking of Benni McCarthy.
Orlando Pirates on the other hand didn't fail with the scoring of goals this season as Kwame Peprah found his goalscoring form last year in December, with defender Bandile Shandu scoring some of the club's crucial goals.
However, although Pirates doesn't need a striker as badly as Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu FC, it's believed that they leading the race for Chibuike Ohizu's signature. According to reports, Pirates is making serious efforts to sign him.
The Ivorian striker scored double figures for the first time in the PSL, as he scored 10 goals in 28 league matches to date. Chibuike Ohizu is also believed to be open to completing a move to a bigger club.
