AmaZulu make History after Qualifying for CAF Champions League Group Stages

Amazulu have made history after qualifying for the CAF Champions League group stages.

Usuthu are the first South African team to qualify for the CAF CL group stages this season.

The KwaZulu Natal based outfit managed to play a 1-1 draw against Congolese giants TP Mazembe on Saturday afternoon.

This comes after both teams played to a goalles draw in South Africa a week ago.

Usuthu went through with an away goal rule.

The South African based outfit did not look too conniving in the first leg of preliminary rounds after losing to Nyasa Big Bulllets by 1-0 away.

However the Benni McCarthy's side went to turn the tables after claiming a 3-1 victory and progressed to the second round.

The first leg of the second preliminary round was held in Durban where both Usuthu and Mazembe failed to score.

This meant that Mazembe could not afford to concede and end up playing a draw at home.

However Usuthu managed to score and the game ended with a draw with goals, meaning that Usuthu got the crucial away goal.

Mazembe will have a second chance in the CAF confederations cup while Usuthu will progress to the group stages of Champions League as winners.
