The Blues were without their two main strikers, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, for the game, but their absence was barely noticed as Chelsea scored seven goals in what may be the greatest victory in the English Premier League this season.
Chelsea was almost certain to win the game before the game even started. The match against Daniel Farke's Men was already being billed as one of Thomas Tuchel's easiest and most straightforward tests of the season.
The reason for this was because Norwich City is one of the English Premier League's newly promoted clubs this season.
You might think Brentford is a newcomer to the Premier League, but they gave Chelsea hell when the Blues came to play them at Brentford Community Stadium. Brentford has won three of their eight League games this season, including victories over Arsenal, West Ham United, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. This is not the case for Norwich City.
Norwich City, unlike Brentford, has yet to win a League game this season. It wasn't a question of whether Chelsea would beat Norwich City or not; it was a question of what margin the Blues would win by.
The distinction became apparent in the end. The reigning European Champions have demonstrated their class by defeating the EFL Champions. The Premier League table-topper humiliated the Premier League's bottom-placed team.
Mason Mount scored the game's first goal in the eighth minute and went on to score his first hat trick in the Premier League. Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Ben Chilwell each scored one goal. Max Aaron also scored an own goal for Norwich City.
Chelsea displayed elegance and refinement in their play. The Blues also controlled the game, with Edouard Mendy only facing one shot on target throughout his time on the field.
Chelsea is now four points ahead of Liverpool, who visit Old Trafford on Sunday for a Premier League match. The margin between the Blues and the Reds is currently 20 goals.
Norwich City is still at the bottom of the Premier League league, with no points from nine games and a massive 21-goal deficit. Last season, the club won the EFL Championship and was promoted to the English Premier League. However, unless they improve their performance, they may find themselves back in the Championship.
