Where has the real soccer supporters?
This has really become an important question to ask. Having traveled from province to province, you only hear people talking about Pirates and Chiefs. What about the other teams?
Since the increase in entrance fees from R20 to R40, our stadiums are seen empty or are there more reasons. Personally, I feel that the administrators of soccer in South Africa has failed us. They have failed to create a league that is challenging and appealing.
Many years ago, it has always been hard to buy a soccer club, now, any person can buy a club. That means that the club will more likely move to another province or not. what about the supporters of that club. Those supporters invested time and money in supporting that club. Moreover, the relegation topic. How does a team get 30 games to win games and impress but still get 3 games 4 games to win the relegation battle. Is that fair for the clubs who ended second in the first division.
These topics are but a few that results in supporters not going to games and even losing their love for the local game. I would love to get the stats to compare soccer supporters watching local games and supporters watching la liga, serie a and english premier league games.
