Whenever Kaizer Chiefs plays against Mamelodi Sundowns tempers flair, and this time it was not different in the 2022 Gauteng Engen Knockout Challenge. The rivalry between the two sides at a professional level continued to the juniors, when Amakhosi brought their senior technical team and the top managers to the final.
Amakhosi where so determined that they brought Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, head coach Arthur Zwane to assist their under 19 coach Ace Khuse. Their effort where finally rewarded, after beating Mamelodi Sundowns under 19 side 2-1, on penalties. The finals where played at Marks Park, Johannesburg.
Prior to the final Orlando Pirates under 19, who beat School of Exellence where disqualified, after failing to produce adequate documentation for one of their players. This resulted in School of Exellence advancing to the semifinals.
This was a sweet revenge for Chiefs who are hunted by Mamelodi Sundowns in the Dstv Premiership. Hopefully head coach Arthur Zwane, has learnt one or two things from the junior side, and he will transfer that to the senior team in the 2022/23 Dstv season.
