Last season Mamelodi Sundowns began a very painful process of letting go of some of the club's most experienced and long serving players
Unfortunately at a huge club like Mamelodi Sundowns that is a necessary process that has to take place because in order for the club to keep on winning trophies they have to reinvent themselves no matter how painful it is for them
Last season the beginning of the process was also rather harsh as Mamelodi Sundowns had to let go of Anthony Laffor and Wayne Arendse as well as Tebogo Langerman, Tiyani Mabunda most recently this season as well
Those four players played an integral role in the beginning of a cycle that is still very much prevalent till this day for Mamelodi Sundowns and played a huge role in the club's first ever CAF Champions League title win
The most recent player as well who Mamelodi Sundowns are seemingly slowly but surely phasing out is club captain Hlompho Kekana who is no longer a first team regular himself
But that seems rather natural as Mamelodi Sundowns are bringing in new young players who have more of a freshness about them
That of course has increasingly and extremely frustrated Hlompho Kekana over the last few months and he has as well voiced his opinion on the matter expressing his frustrations
And that has raised question marks over his potential future at Mamelodi Sundowns but one of the club's co coaches in Rhulani Mokwena has revealed Hlompho Kekana is still very much held in high regard at the club
"We love him. The club loves him. The fans love him. And I think the club will make a statement in due course,"
"Because he is a proverbial winner. Really, a person that loves the game, has sacrificed so much for the game and has given so much to Mamelodi Sundowns,"
