Sundowns technical team and players will allegedly share a whopping R8 million amongst themselves

Mamelodi Sundowns have been the most consistent team in the Premier Soccer League. As they’re constantly in the running to win silverware, not only do they make it to the finals but they clinch the trophies. This was visible when they won the MTN8 this past weekend. Now, according to Soccer Laduma, the players and technical team will be rewarded for their efforts in the competition. This isn’t something that was expected but the management felt that it’s the right thing to do.

This comes after Downs's battle of winning the competition, ever since it changed sponsors back in 2008. As it was previously called SAA Super 8 and now, it was rebranded to MTN8. This was the only cup that Pitso Mosimane failed to win at Chloorkop, and the job was left in the hands of Sundowns co-coaches Manqoba Mngqithi and Rulani Mokwena. Even though it was tough but they delivered the goods. As Masandawana defeated Cape Town City FC 3-2 on penalties. After the open play and extra-time finished on 1-1 at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Sundowns have now got the trophy that was missing in their cabinet, as they’ve found it difficult to win in the past decade. This was a massive celebration for the Yellow Nation as they’ve proved once again that they’re dominating South African football.

According to sources, the Downs management has decided to give the MTN8 prize-winning R8 million to the players and technical staff. As they’ve worked hard over the past couple of weeks and stuck to their game plans. This takes a lot of commitment from everyone in the squad, however, it was done effortlessly. This was a much-needed bonus for the players and technical team for their dominance in the DStv Premiership.
