Kaizer Chiefs had an opportunity to revamp their squad during the previous transfer window and they didn’t disappoint. As they’ve unleashed the beast that has caused their rivals in the DStv Premiership to panic. As they have to plan accordingly for his tricky moves on and off the ball during the game. Chiefs marquee signing Keagan Dolly is slowly winning the hearts of the football fraternity as he has worked extremely hard on his game and fitness.
Now, he has explained the reason behind leaving Mamelodi Sundowns when he was at the peak of his career and winning trophies at Chloorkop. Dolly stated that it was time for him to challenge himself, as he outgrew the PSL at that time and didn’t see much tougher opponents. Dolly moved to Montpellier HSC, where he struggled to get game time and had problems with his knee injury that had him on the stands. The 28-year-old attacker felt that this was one of the difficult times in his professional career, as he didn’t have enough support structure to pull him out of his trials and tribulations. However, he counted on himself to work through the pain and gained a lot of experience back in France. “I needed experience, I needed to leave my comfort zone and grow up. It was hard to face some of my lowest moments alone, far from loved ones, but it has made me stronger mentally,” said Dolly talking to the media.
He has scored five goals and has many assists at Naturena ever since he has returned to the PSL in the current campaign. Dolly’s hard work has caught the eyes of South African national team Hugo Broos, hence, he has included him in the squad that will battle it out against Zimbabwe at FNB Stadium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Dolly stated that he will put his best foot forward and prove that Broos didn’t make a mistake by recalling him to Bafana Bafana again. “Wherever the coach needs me, I will perform and put my best foot forward. That is what it is about for me. I have matured as a person and as a player and here I will give it my all,” said Dolly talking to the media.
