DStv Premiership leaders & Cape Town City Settled A Goalless Draw (details)

The DStv Premiership leaders and Cape Town City were held to a scoreless draw (details)

On Saturday evening, Cape Town City and DStv Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns battled to a scoreless draw at the Cape Town Stadium.

Cape Town City defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the Absa Premiership.

It was only the reigning champions' second draw of the season, and they stay in first place with eight victories and have yet to lose a goal.

In the sixth minute, Haashim Domingo had a shot on goal, but it lacked force, and Hugo Marques made an easy stop. In the 21st minute, Mdu Mdantsane created a wonderful opportunity for City, but Mosa Lebusa's sliding interception foiled the move.

Fagrie Lakay sprinted through in the 30th minute, but scuffed his final attempt, which flew across the face of Denis Onyango's goal and into the stands. He had another opportunity a minute later, this time with more power, but Onyango was up to the challenge.

Sundowns were awarded a dangerous free kick in the 35th minute, and Domingo's shot was on target, but Marques made a diving save to keep the game alive. Divine Lunga's try five minutes later was unsuccessful, as was Peter Shalulile's attempt moments later.

When the referee blew for halftime, the game was still scoreless.

Domingo had a shot on goal in the 48th minute, but Marques made a great stop to keep the game alive. Two minutes later, Lunga missed the target with a header.

In the 64th minute, City substitute Douglas Mapfumo's header was saved by the goalkeeper, and three minutes later, Thabiso Kutumela's curling shot narrowly missed the target. Taahir Goedeman was denied a goal by Onyango in the 70th minute after a fantastic stop.

In the 90th minute, substitute Neo Maema forced a save from Marques, but that was as near as either team would get to scoring, and the game ended goalless, with the points shared in Cape Town.
