Finally, the long anticipated week is here and football fans are about to get entertained as well as make money from the league. Today, many competitive and top leagues around the world will officially begin. The likes of English Premier League, German Bundesliga, South Africa Premier League, French Ligue 1, etc are set to keep us busy every weekend till the end of the season.
Our own interesting and adored league, Premier Soccer League (PSL) sponsored by DSTV will kick off with a tough match at 6:30 pm. The defending champion, Mamelodi Sundowns will face off with Cape Town City FC. It has been a long transfer summer with players embarking on summer trips and having a great time with their various families.
New players were signed to strengthen the squad of both clubs as well some players left for another destination. Over 10 players left the PSL giant club, Sundowns to different clubs around the world while 7 new players were added to the remaining squad. Meanwhile, Cape Town sold few of their players and recruited some as well.
Going to the topic of the article, I believe that Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Manqoba Mngqithi made a big mistake in the starting lineup with this player.
The 33 years old player have been a great and passionate player to the club since his arrival. Zwane played a very vital in winning the league and Cup last season.
However, I think that having him in the squad to play the first match of the season is a mistake because of his age. Players like him are to be preserved for tougher matches or when the season becomes interesting to avoid unnecessary injury.
It's obvious that Zwane's injury will probably hamper the performance of the team during the season. Manqoba should try and preserve the delicate and most important players to important matches.
