After Bafana Bafana were beaten heavily by the FIFA world cup champions (France) all of the squad members went back to their respective clubs as they were set to continue with the remainder of the 2021/22 football season, and one of those players is a former Orlando Pirates striker who was introduced to European football by Monaco before he eventually found his way to Vitoria Guimaraes who later loaned him out to the Belgian second division team Westerlo.
The 21 year old Lyle Foster did good for himself in the Belgian second division side as he was part of a team that contributed to Westerlo's league success as he managed to score a total of four league goals for his loan term with Westerlo. To some pundits the four goals scored on the 21 games played in a second division league might not be too good for a striker.
Nevertheless for the fact that the former Buccaneer is a regular starter for Westerlo, this proves that the club really found him to be a good player and an awesome contributor to the club's success. What most pundits are not considering is that players are not only scoring goals but they also create assists for their team mates, it will be selfish for players to seek for individual glory when they have to create chances for other players and that's exactly what Lyle Foster did for his team.
As great these news are for the player there is an elephant in the room that has to be addressed which is the season long loan deal from Vitoria Guimaraes. The South African football universe will be taking a close look at this situation because at Vitoria Guimaraes did not see it fit to play the Bafana Bafana player hence they loaned him out to the Belgian side. A big congratulations to Westerlo and well done to Foster for contributing to the club's success which bought him his first medal in Europe.
