Jabu Mahlangu charged with fleeing accident scene

In recent years PSL players and fast cars go hand in hand, it is somehow a trend that these well known professionals tend to drive around in luxurious vehicles.

However, not all of them are smooth behind the wheel as some over the years have crashed their high end rides.

The third of week of January 2022 has been one of the most difficult times for former troublesome footballer turned football analysis Jabu Mahlangu formerly known as Jabu Pule as the former Kaizer Chiefs star player this past Saturday was involved in a tragic head on collision with a taxi which resulted to 14 casualties.

With the news coming to light, South Africa's weekly publication Sunday World would go to reveal that Jabu Mahlangu was in the company of his female friend when the incident occurred. Furthermore the publication would go to reveal that Jabu Mahlangu who currently serves as a brand ambassador at Supersport United fled the accident scene and checked himself into the Far East Hospital.

On Thursday according to Farpost there are new developments regarding this accident which occurred in Benoni at about 6am. According to this online publication the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) has confirmed that Jabu Mahlangu has been charged with fleeing the scene of a car crash, a charge which holds a maximum sentence of 9 years imprisonment or a fine of R180 000.

In addition Farpost would go to confirm that a case docket against the former footballer has been opened at the Benoni South African Police Services (SAPS) where he also faces a charge of negligent and reckless driving. EMPD Spokesperson Lt-Col Kelogile Thepa has since stated that the former footballer by law was not suppose to flee the scene but report the accident to the police and seek emergency attention so that they can arcertain the nature of his injuries, meaning he defeated the hands of justice.
