Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly set their eyes on two immensely talented young SuperSport United players as they look to bolster their squad ahead of next season.
The Glamour Boys have hugely been impacted by the FIFA transfer ban imposed on them in the manner they went about acquiring the services of Madagascan midfielder Andriamirado “Dax” Andrianarimanana from his club Fosa Juniors back in 2018.
This has seen Amakhosi been dumped out of every single cup competition this season, and look set to miss out on progressing past the CAF Champions League group stages are suffering a humiliating 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic at the weekend.
Gavin Hunt's charges are also fighting to finish within the top eight bracket before the current season comes to a close.
According to Phakaaathi, young duo midfield maestro, Sipho Mbule (22) and defender Luke Fleurs (20), have been heavily linked with a switch to Naturena.
A source claimed that poaching Mbule and Fleurs from Matsatsantsa was Hunt’s idea as he wants to assemble a strong, young and fresher team for next season.
“Gavin has been given a big budget to work with. He is given a free hand at picking the players he wants to bring to Naturena and Bobby’s [Motaung] job will be limited to negotiating with the prospective players and not scouting them any more," the source told Phakaaathi.
“Mbule and that young defender, Fleurs are top of Hunt’s list of candidates he wants and he has asked that the management do everything they can to get them,” added the source.
Fleurs is currently still negotiating for a new contract with his current club, while Mbule's contract still runs until June 2022, which means Chiefs must come forward with a hefty fee if they wish to snatch him away from the Tshwane giants.
A clear-out of the old guard at Chiefs is expected next season, and Hunt is looking to reshuffle his pack and build a formidable team that could once again challenge for major honours.
