With just only a few hours before the start of their first ever CAF Confederation Cup journey, Limpopo outfit Marumo Gallants are still waiting for the arrival of their goalkeeper for their match against Futuro Kings away in Equatorial Guinea.
The coach of the club Mr Sébastien Migné has been without a recognised goalkeeper for the trip due to certain administrative issues which came as a barrier to traveling. However, it seems as if all has been sorted as last minute arrangements were made for some of the team members to link up with the rest of the squad in Mongomo today (Saturday) for this afternoon’s CAF Confederations cup match.
Nedbank cup winning Goalkeeper Washington Arubi is reportedly on his way to join the team (Marumo Gallants) this morning, and his representative from M Sport Management Michael Ngobeni has explained why the 36-year-old shot-stopper is joining the team a bit late.
“Washington Arubi was with the Zimbabwe national team in Ethiopia for the match played on Tuesday (World cup qualifiers). From there, he came back to South Africa to collect his Visa in Pretoria, and he had to go back the same day to Ethiopia. From there, he proceeded to Cameroon and then connected to Equatorial Guinea,” confirmed Michael Ngobeni.
“But he is almost there now and he is about to link with the entire team this morning. Washington Arubi is a soldier and he is used to these type of tough conditions. He will be ready to play the game and don’t be surprised if he puts in a Man of the Match performance in that game.” concluded the representative showing his support to Arubi who has shown a lot of heart and determination to always be there for his team.
Marumo Gallants qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup tournament through being surprise winners of the Nedbank cup last season.
