The head coach of Maritzburg United Ernst Middendorp has admitted that one of his players proved him wrong following a victory against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The team of choice managed to claim a hard fought victory against the log leaders Sundowns on Saturday evening.
The KwaZulu natal based side had to come from a goal down to force a 2-1 win and claimed all the points.
Speaking after the game Middendorp admitted that luck was on their side for the day.
The coach also emphasized that one has to work hard if you want to be successful.
He added that his team worked hard as a unit to win the game.
The coach said there were moments in the game where he felt like they could have conceded the second and third goal but also admitted that those moments are part of the game.
The German tactician also reserved some praises for one of the club's defenders Nazeer Allie who he thought might not be able to play anymore.
"He’s definitely a player in the beginning of the season, but sometimes you mess it up as a coach," said the coach.
He said he thought the player might not make it anymore.
Middendorp said the player is proving him wrong as the season progresses.
