Goalkeeper: Bruce Bvuma- Amakhosi have extended veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune's contract for another two years, but he will most likely be a back-up to the rookie Bvuma in the next season. Former Wits goalkeeper Brendon Petersen has also joined the Chiefs' defense, which already includes Nigerian international Daniel Akpeyi.
Reeve Frosler, right back- There is still some debate about Frosler's best position, but based on his Wits and junior national team performances, he is likely to be the first choice right back. On Tuesday, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, a former Bafana Bafana international, was also offered a contract extension in the hopes of providing needed cover at right and center defense.
Cardoso and Ngcobo at CB- There will be a desire to use new signings. At center back, Austin Dube and Njabulo Ngcobo are a good combination, but knowing Baxter, he'll want to partner one of them with at least one of Daniel Cardoso and Eric Mathoho.
Left-Back: Sibusiso Mabiliso/Sfiso Hlanti- With Yagan Sasman offloaded to Swallows FC and Philani Zulu released from his contract, the left back position will be a battle between new arrivals Mabiliso and Hlanti.
Phathutshedzo Nange, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, and Cole Alexander make up the midfield trio. Stuart Baxter has high hopes for Alexandra, which means he'll be a sure starter. The other two midfield positions will be up for grabs, with last season's standout player Ngcobo likely to take one and new acquisition Nange likely to take the other.
Forwards: Keagan Dolly, Khama Billiat, and Samir Nurkovic- When Khama Billiat teams up with former Sundowns colleague Dolly this season, most Chiefs fans anticipate to see the Khama Billiat of old. Whether they'll be paired with Castro to re-establish the CBD or with Samir Nurkovic.
