Peter Shalulile faces an uphill battle in order to break Mbesuma's record

In modern football the almost outrageously impossible is always achieved.

Every now and then records have been broken in the PSL after heroic efforts.

In the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season Brave Warriors forward Peter Shalulile who plies his trade at Mamelodi Sundowns is currently enjoying a rich view of form infront of target. The Mamelodi Sundowns jersey number 38 is tipped by many to win his first PSL Footballer of the Season award.

In addition the 28 year old Windhoek born attacker is also on the verge of winning his second Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award becoming one of the few PSL players to do so. The former Tura Magic FC forward is also in the running of breaking Collins Mbesuma's goal tally of 25 in the league which has stood for 17 years.

The former Kaizer Chiefs attacker achieved that milestone in the 2004/05 season when he used to ran riots against any opposition. On matchday 29 during Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 defeat against Stellenbosch FC their lethal goal poacher in the form of Peter Shalulile failed to find the back off the net.

Going into matchday 30 ahead of their encounter against Royal AM the Mamelodi Sundowns marksman who has since scored 22 goals faces an uphill battle in order to break Mbesuma's record. The Namibian international now needs three or four goals to equal or surpass Collins Mbesuma's record which now seems as if it is one of the most unbreakable records in the PSL.

According to 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦 in their first league encounter during Mamelodi Sundowns' 3-2 victory against Royal AM on 8 December, the Namibian international scored a brace. Moving into the last round of matches Peter Shalulile will have to better than form.

The Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has previously proved that he has what it takes to achieve the impossible when he scored two successive hattricks in the league.
