Dylan Kerr reveals his massive plans to turn things around for Swallows

Swallows are struggling as they are having winless matches and they are losing the race for the league title.

Swallows coach Dylan Kerr has promised to change his players' mindsets and convince them that they can win matches.

Kerr, who took over as the Swallows' new coach on Tuesday after Brandon Truter was fired, led the team's first practice session yesterday.

He's highlighted his approach and confidence as areas where he needs to improve right now.

"Coming to Swallows is a huge task and a huge challenge, and I'm excited about it," Kerr told Sowetan yesterday.

"They were drawing matches last year, but they are losing matches this season, and team spirit is really poor." As a result, I'll have to come in and build confidence and belief.

"Your initial practice session will always be challenging, and I told the players that there are a couple of points on the line, and we need to start winning as quickly as possible," he stated. There is yet hope.

"The players must begin to believe in themselves, and I will motivate them to win matches once more."

Swallows are currently bottom of the DStv Premiership table, with only three goals scored as of now. Kerr admitted that the team still has a lot of work to do in order to get back to winning ways.

"We have to concentrate on the defense because they have been conceding too many goals," he said. "We have to get the defense right before we work on scoring."

"At the end of the day, the players are the only ones who can win the match; we can only train them and get the most out of them; nonetheless, they must go out there and perform."

"The attitude of losers to winners must alter, and as I already stated, there are many points available; let's take use of them."

Kerr's debut match will be against Maritzburg United at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday, however he will not be on the bench because he is still awaiting his work permit; instead, his assistant Fani Madida will take command.

"We have a match versus Maritzburg on Saturday, so we need to actually win that one," he said. We don't want teams ahead of us to pull away, so we'll just focus on what Swallows can accomplish and contribute to the table."
