SAFA does not know football according to Ghana, what if they are right?

I want to address two matters in this article. Two matters of concern to all South African football lovers and probably the rest of the African continent. Bafana Bafana won the Afcon cup in 1996 and qualified for the World Cup in France in 1998, 2002 and 2010 as hosts. From there honestly, Bafana Bafana which used to be a force in Africa has become a shadow of its former self.

South Africa has some of the best facilities in Africa, even though we have the best facilities and we attract talent from all over the world yet we fail to produce top footballers. Bafana Bafana has failed to emulate the heroics of 1996 and we have failed to qualify for World Cup, since 2010. Who is to blame players or management? That his to be seen.

For many years South African football fans have been calling for the resignation of Danny Jordaan a politician who has been president of the South African Football Association since 2013. Football has been revolving and it is no doubt that SAFA needs new and young leadership who will understand football and technology. On the other we have the Premier Soccer League(PSL) which is being led by Dr Irvine Khoza.

Allow me to try and shoot a number of birds with a single stone. The PSL is in disarray. Every season end we anticipate the PSL to be dragged to court because they just take together to deal and address certain issues. Last season we saw the Royal Am and Sekhukhune United saga. Something that could have been dealt with early in the season took Irvine Khoza and his whole administration the whole season to deal with.

We now have the Kaizer Chiefs and Covid-19 saga. kaizer Chiefs have had players and management test positive for Covid-19. They wrote letters to ppl requesting to postpone their December matches against CapeTown City and Golden Arrows. Psl did not respond and Kaizer Chiefs have chosen to not play the first two of the matches. Its still not yet known whether the games will be replayed or 3 points will be given to their opponents.

For South African football to rise again in the continent and start producing top class players both SAFA and PSL need to get their houses in order. This also includes the resignation of Irvine Khoza and Kaizer Motaung so that they can hand reigns to younger and fresher minds. As it stands the Ghana football Association officials are right South Africa does not know football.
