Once again the GladAfrica Championship has afforded players a platform to play. This edition of transfers in the GAC we see a couple of free agents and MDC players finding new homes in this league.
1. Harold Ndlovu (29)
Ndlovu has rejoined Polokwane City after rejecting a move to Cape Town All Stars. The goal minder had spent the last year and a half at TS Sporting. The former Rise and Shine goalkeeper graduated from their reserve to senior team. This season he made one league appearance and three in the Nedbank Cup.
2. Sebastian Lucas (21)
Lucas has signed with Cape United, making the move from Steenberg United. He had joined Steenberg at the beginning of the season and played 2 games for them. It seems he was part of the rumoured released 9 players after Nasief Morris was sacked as head coach. The former Ajax Cape Town academy player also played for TS Galaxy in the NFD.
3. Junior Awono (25)
Free agent Awono joined Sekhukhune United after being without a club for a year. The defensive midfielder was released by Stellenbosch FC in December 2019. The Cameroonian player spent just over year at the Wine lands team, helping them gain promotion in the 2018/19 season.
4. Simiso Bophela (20)
Simiso moved to Sekhukhune United on a loan till end of the season from Orlando Pirates. The left winger with his twin brother Simo is part of Buccaneers' MDC team and with the uncertainty of the reserve league, he has been given an opportunity to play. Many thought the twins would break into the Amabhakabhaka senior team when play resumed in the bubble.
5. Ziyaad Eksteen (25)
Free agent Ziggy signed with Steenberg United and returned out of the football wilderness. He last played for Dstv Premiership side Maritzburg United’ MDC team between 2017 and 2019, playing only 2 senior team matches and assisting one goal. Since the former Ajax Cape Town academy graduate's move to Steenberg he scored on his debut.
