One of Orlando Pirates youngsters has passed the first test in the first team as he did not disappoint for the club on debut, but since he performed well against Maritzburg United, more is set to come for the young star.
Orlando Pirates talented youngster Simiso Bophela made his debut for the first team against Maritzburg United and did not disappoint. Bophela made his appearance in the 68th minute of the match as he replaced Bandile Shandu. Bophela who made his debut for the first team passed his first test at the club, and since he did an excellent job more is set to come for the player as it is highly likely for him to get more game-time.
The 21-year-old player is used as a winger and is excellent in that position. He was previously on loan to Sekhukhune United from Orlando Pirates and his spell in attack for his loan club captured the attention of co-coach Fadlu Davids. His loan spell opened the door for him in Pirates first team and he has a bright future ahead of him after his successful debut performance.
Orlando Pirates has a few injuries and that could have been the reason why Bophela got his first team chance so soon, but it does not matter at this point as he already showed the club and supporters that he is worthy to get first team game-time.
"We cannot complain about players who are not available, I really have to put the trust in the players who are available and build them up, build their confidence, and give them game-time and allow them to display their skills", remarked Fadlu Davids.
Fadlu Davids made it clear that Bophela was used because of the absence of unavailable players, and it was not a bad idea reflecting on his debut. Bophela should just keep us this form and he can secure his himself a spot in the Orlando Pirates first team attacking options. He passed the first test but will have to repeat his form to pass more tests at the club as his performance against Maritzburg United should have earned him more game-time now.
