Chiefs Confirms They Will NOT Play

After having written to The Premier Soccer League request ing that their four games be postponed since their camp has suffered an outbreak, Kaizer Chiefs have once more released a statement announcing that there is no way that they are going to host Cape Town City on Saturday the 4th of November 2021 as per fixture.

According to a statement the team released through their social media platforms and their website, Amakhosi confrimed that the have 31 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and as a a result, all members of the staff who are deemed as Primary contracts has been instructed to quarantine, therefire it will be impossible for the team to host The Citizens.

"In the interim, the prevailing circumstances dictate that Kaizer Chiefs must sadly confirm that the Club will be unable to host the match against Cape Town City, scheduled for Saturday, 4 December at 18:00. At least 31 employees have tested positive for the virus and the Club has subsequently been obliged to instruct all players, members of the technical team and staff, who are deemed primary contacts, to quarantine as per official protocols. Unfortunately, this is the only option available in the current situation and, as a responsible corporate citizen," the statement reads.

Chiefs played their last game against Swallows FC without some of their regular players after they reportedly tested positive for Covid-19, it turns out that the camp in Naturena has had more positive tests and they have also closed down their village as a precaution as they try to avoid spreding the virus.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys could be in trouble with the league if they decide not to play when the league has orderd them to play since there is no single team that has been allowed to postpone their game because of Covid-19 cases, all teams who had an outbreak were forced to use their fringe players or the inexperienced players from reserve league.

The PSL has not responded to Chiefs' request, we still wait to hear what they will decide, whether they will grant Chiefs permission to postpone or not.
