Mamelodi Sundowns striker Mauricio Affonso could be set for a return on the pitch after a long awaited groin injury which kept him at grandstands.
The Uruguayan forward last kicked the ball against sold Bidvest Wits in a league game.
However co-coach Rhulani Mokoena has shared an update about the striker injury that he may have began training but there isn't any rush for him to be back in the pitch.
“But he’s got a few muscle related issues and we are trying to make sure we resolve the problem because it is one thing to rush his rehabilitation to get him back on the pitch, but it is another to make sure you are thorough in your recovery.” siad coach Rhulani.
The Brazilians are set to face Sudan side Al Hilal in the Caf Champions League group stage competition at Loftus Versfield stadium and are bit concerned about Affonso who is the definite striker to trouble these kind of African teams.
Having registered a 40 man sqaud for the Caf however the likes of Peter Shalulile, Gift Motupa Kermit Erasmus are willing to compete and fill the void by Affonso who is nursing his injury.
Sundows still remain undefeated in the league and lead on five points league gap followd by SuperSport United Pirates and Swallows.
