Ole Should Stop Being Too Dependent On Ronaldo [OPINION]

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the club this summer, can play at the greatest level well into his 40s. The 36-year-old, who turns 37 in February, has had a fantastic start to his second spell at United, scoring four goals in three games and leading United to third place in the Premier League after four wins and a draw from five games.

It's United's best start to a Premier League season since 2017, and Solskjaer thinks Ronaldo, who has been instrumental in their early success, isn't going to slow down anytime soon. 'I wouldn't be shocked if he still played when he was 40, not at all, because of the way he looks after himself,' he remarked when asked how long the veteran striker could play. 'That's the key - plus certain genes, of course.' There must be some genes and DNA in there as well. 'He has poured every ounce of energy and effort into being the player he is and has been, and he deserves every single accolade for his physical condition.'

Ryan Giggs, a former teammate of Solskjaer's, played until he was 40 years old, and the Norwegian is hoping Ronaldo can follow in his footsteps. The Red Devils have a home match against Aston Villa on Saturday to make up for it, before hosting Villarreal on Wednesday (where Ronaldo could set a new Champions League appearances record) and Everton the following weekend. It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will be able to start all three games this week, with Solskjaer admitting that he will have to keep a close eye on the forward, especially after the step-up in intensity upon his return to the Premier League.

'He's still one of the quickest players in the league, and I'm still happy with his physical condition,' Solskjaer insists. Ole should stop being too dependent on Ronaldo. There is absolutely no way that Ronaldo will still be playing for Manchester United aged 40. What are your thoughts on this matter? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments section.
