In South Africa many PSL players tend to mishandle their finances by spending their money on materialistic goods such as starting their own car collections leading to bankruptcy.
Over the years some of these well professionals were able to bounce back while some fell flat.
In the PSL former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain Mbulelo "OJ" Mabizela during his career highs was largely known for not giving the opposition any space to breathe. Describe by many as "Mr Cool" Mbulelo Mabizela used to fight for each and every header, going in 50-50 for tackles and hence as a result he even had the privilege of plying his trade in the lucrative leagues in England and in Europe.
During his career highs the Pietermaritzburg born retired footballer used to drive around in style like most of his colleagues in the industry. Back then the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain even owned a luxurious Chrysler 300c. Post his retirement from football Mbulelo Mabizela has had financial difficulties and even worked as an HIV/AIDS counsellor in Edendale, Pietermaritzburg, just to put food on the table.
On Thursday the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain made his imminent return to football as he was set to be unveiled as the new Head Coach of Talitha Soccer Academy in Johannesburg. On the day his new employers on their Facebook page decided to detail his mode of transport that he was going to use to get to Johannesburg.
According to their account on the popular platform the 41 year old retired footballer turned coach used the services of Intercape Mainliner to travel to Gauteng from Pietermaritzburg. The former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain endured a 6 hours and 30 minutes journey in order to arrive at his final destination on Thursday morning.
