Wheelchair bound former ace boxing trainer manager Mzimasi Mnguni has reportedly passed away according to reports by his family. At this stage more details are still yet to be made public but Mnguni was off poor health, he had previously had several strokes and a heart attack.
Mnguni is the recepient of two life time achievement Awards, one was presented to him by Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula in 2017 and also another one by his successor Thulasi Nxesi.
Mnguni produced many South Africa, international and World Champions including Welcome "The Hawk" Ncita , Vuyani "The Beast" Bungu, Mbulelo "Slayer" Botile, Masibulele "Hawk" Makepula and Zolani "Tiger" Petelo at his famed Eyethu Gym in Mdantsane.
Mnguni was assisted by his nephew Welsh Mnguni in producing these champions and former South Africa Junior flyweight holder Mvelile "Lacias" Luzipho, they have since passed on. He has produced more than 10 World Champions from 1990, mainly IBF holders. His boxers were promoted by Rodney Berman and his partner Cedric Kushner.
Mnguni was also a successful businessman, he was also the owner of the Mdantsane Hotel. We would like to send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, may God be with them through these difficult times.
