The Dube Birds and definitely and in fu effect after a hiatus from top tie football. The Soweto Giants came back and stamped their authority after gaining promotion from the Glad Africa Championship at the beginning of the season. They are currently 3rd on the log tied with Supersport United and slightly behind Mamelodi Sundowns. The club has gone unbeaten in 14 games since arriving in the Dstv Premiership.
Swallows FC hasn't only underwent a metamorphosis on the field but on the social media streets as well. The club has done k terms engaging and providing supporters with content. They have also enlisted a couple of familiar faces such as celebrities and influencers to represent the brand and it has been working out perfectly so far.
The Soweto outfit has been cementing a solid socialedia presence by enlisting the likes of Mimo Mokgosi and KB Motsilanyane to name a few. Fans all around the football space have dubbed this team as one of the most exciting so far, on and off the field and it seems they are backing up the talk on both ends. The club currently has 40k followers on Instagram.
The club is seemingly taking a 'Nandos approach' when it comes to social media and it seems like the person behind the accounts is just as spicy. The Dube Birds don't shy away from trolling opponents, issuing spicy clapbacks and generally providing fans and supporters with hilarious memes on the social platforms.
Swallows FC and coach Brandon Truter are definitely at the peak of their careers and it seems like they are thoroughly enjoying it on and off the field. The club has gone unbeaten in 15 games winning 7 and drawing 7 games in process. The Dube Birds have had close encounters with the likes of Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport United but manged to hold off for a draw in all of those games.
They will face off against Cape Umoya in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday afternoon. A side they are very familiar with from the Glad Africa Championship. They have played a total of 2 games against each other and the record remains level. Swallows won the first meeting 2-1 while Cape Umoya won the second match 1-0. Brandon Truter's men will look to advance further in the competition and challenge for silverware after missing out on the MTN 8.
