Former Chiefs star breaks the silence about his football career: Is he retiring or not?

The former Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala has been missing in action and many people have wondered if he has decided to hang up his soccer boots. Tshabalala has spoken about his inactivity in the Premier Soccer League, as he was last seen in the books of AmaZulu FC last season. Unfortunately, he was let go by Usuthu after he wasn’t in the plans of their head coach Benni McCarthy

Also, Shabba didn’t get a lot of game time under McCarthy even though he has loads of experience that can help any club moving forward. The former Bafana Bafana star left the Durban-based side in August this year and he’s currently a free agent. In most cases, veteran players end up playing for the smaller clubs in the Premier Soccer League. Meanwhile, certain players might move to the GladAfrica Championship and even the ABC Motsepe League. As they feel that they still have a few left within themselves. Also, it’s not easy to just retire from football if you genuinely love it.

The former Free State Star player was asked by journalists about his status as a player if he’s planning to continue playing or he was calling it a day. That’s when Tshabalala stated that he’s still a footballer. “I am Siphiwe Tshabalala, current professional soccer player,” said Shabba speaking to the journalists.

When the 37-year-old midfield maestro was present at the Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge, he stated that everyone who wants to know about his football career, they will have to wait for his announcement. Shabba didn’t want to dive more into his future and that will just keep his fans in suspense. “They will know soon,” said Tshabalala speaking to the journalists.
