The 2020/21 DSTV Premiership League defender of the season Njabulo Ngcobo missed out on the initial 23 man Bafana squad that will play against neighbours Zimbabwe and The black stars of Ghana on the 3rd and 6th of September respectively, in the 2022 Qatar FIFA world cup qualifiers as reported on www.enca.com.
The Kaizer Chiefs central defender was not picked due to a tactical decision that Bafana coach Hugo Broos made as he will be playing with a 3-4-3 formation, so a left-centre back will be needed to occupy the position and with Mamelodi Sundowns captain injured, his Kaizer Chiefs teammate Austin Dube was the obvious choice.
Thibang Phete, Siyanda Xulu and Rushine De Reuck are ahead of him in terms of match fitness as all three defenders have been involved in every single game for their respective clubs.
Njabulo Ngcobo is in Hugo Broos plans and not playing in the DSTV Premiership League limited his chances of making the final 23 man Bafana squad.
