Reports: Top 7 Chiefs stars that could leave Naturena

(Source: thesouthafrican.com)

Kaizer Chiefs could let go of seven players ahead of the new season, as that will allow the Soweto giants to have a space for the new faces. It doesn't help retaining players that are not part of the Chiefs future plans, as that can only cause frustrations within the squad and management too. Since, they'll continue to see mediocre performances within the club which isn't good for a massive brand like Amakhosi. Hence, there's reports stating that they'll be releasing some players that they feel do not meet the requirements of the club in terms of where it's headed.

The Chiefs hopefuls have been calling for the Soweto giants to let go of certain fringe and experienced players as they're just adding numbers at Naturena. When the news broke that there will be a squad overhaul within Chiefs, this has led to their supporters celebrating this initiative. The Club's Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior alongside his interim co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard have been busy trying to figure out which players that have to sacked. According to reports, Amakhosi cut ties with the Zambian attacker Lazarous Kambole who has failed to secure a spot in the starting eleven and also, the Kenyan central midfielder Anthony Akumu who has found it difficult to win the coaches hearts. The duo top the exit list, as they've made less than ten appearances combined in the DStv Premiership. “Topping the list of those who could face the chop is Kenyan Akumu Agay, Zambian international striker Lazarous Kambole, centre-back Daniel Cardoso, former PSL Footballer of the Year Lebogang Manyama, Nigerian international goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi…,” the experienced and well-connected iDiskiTimes reporter Velile Mnyandu reported.

Even the central defender Daniel Cardoso could face the axe as he has been given numerous chances by different coaches to excel in the club, but he still made silly costly mistakes. The injury prone attacking midfielder Lebogang Manyama and the striker Leonardo Castro could leave Naturena. However, surprising star linked with being released is the Serbian international Samir Nurkovic as he has been shooting blanks recently. “Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic and his counterpart Leonardo Castro,” the report added.
