Date: Saturday, 27 November
The next instalment of the Nedbank Cup competition will be here in no time, but it's all about qualification first to be part of the prestigious tournament. South Africa has many football clubs who could potentially partake in the tournament, therefore clubs needs to play for a spot as a qualifications draw is set in place for clubs to compete with each other for a spot in the Nedbank Cup competition.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has released the dates for the Nedbank Cup qualifications matches, but the dates and fixtures released is only for the GladAfrica Championship clubs, as they will duel for their spots in the Nedbank Cup competition. Last seasons Nedbank Cup title was won by Marumo Gallants who is a Dstv Premiership club, as they won the title under the name Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM).
The winning of the Nedbank Cup title landed Marumo Gallants a spot in the prestigious CAF Confederations Cup which is the second best tournament in Africa second to the CAF Champions league which is the best club tournament in Africa. The GladAfrica Championship clubs will now have a chance to face off against each other, and who knows the Nedbank Cup title might be won this time by a second tier club, which is a bit farfetched but not impossible.
The qualifications matches for the GladAfrica Championship clubs to qualify for the Nedbank Cup will be played on the 14th and 15th December 2021.
Check the fixtures below -
1 - Jomo Cosmos vs Uthongathi FC
2 - Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila vs Cape Town All Stars
3 - Richards Bay FC vs Polokwane City FC
4 - Venda Football Academy vs Pretoria Callies
5 - University of Pretoria FC vs Hungry Lions FC
6 - Platinum City Rovers vs Cape Town Spurs
7- Ts Sporting FC vs JDR Stars
8 - Black Leopards vs Free State Stars
The Venues and kick-off times will be announced in due course.
Jomo Cosmos mission to qualify for the Nedbank Cup competition will be the hardest out of all the GladAfrica Championship clubs seeing they haven't won a single match in their last 17 matches played, but who knows they might break into the Nedbank Cup which would be a shocking qualification.
